The Consciousness Project
The Consciousness Project explore ideas relating to human consciousness. The project consists currently of six paintings, a musical piece, a podcast and blog posts and an artist's statement. Each addresses aspect of consciousness.

The Paintings
This series uses space and light to communicate metaphors for consciousness. The style is abstract.
The Music
I created this pop tune tune to capture the idea of an evolving consciousness expressed through pop music.
The Podcast
My research for this project came out of my own observation and philosophical inquiry. Here is where I make the case that consciousness is very much like space and light.
Blog Posts
I have compiled blog posts over that past few years that relate in any way to consciousness.

Artist Statement: The Consciousness Project
The Consciousness Project currently includes a series of paintings, a podcast, several blog posts, and a pop music tune. With these components in place I feel that the project is completed, however I will likely add additional works to the project as I am inspired to.
Consciousness is a wonderful and mysterious thing that has baffled scientists and philosophers for centuries. For this series I produced a field of study on the topic of consciousness. A field of study is a body of inquiry devoted to understanding the subject. Through the course of dong my research, the artwork begins to emerge in the form of sketches that are done in response to what I am learning and the conclusions that I am making. For the Consciousness Project I have examined consciousness from the point of view of psychology, biologically, and Buddhism, but mostly through my own experience and observation. After the field of study was completed, my conclusion was that consciousness, to the extent that it can be understood at all, is to me most like an empty space and light. You can learn how I arrived at that conclusion by listening to the podcast.
Artistically, both empty space and light are interesting but challenging subjects. Especially when attempting to portray them in an original way while staying true to the subject of consciousness. Empty space is particularly challenging since it isn’t anything we can perceive. Empty space can only be defined by what it is not, such an empty room. Or outer space, which, aside from containing hundreds of billions of galaxies, is mostly empty space. Given the challenge of portraying emptiness, I have decided to assign a network of lines, like a wireframe, to represent the boundaries of empty space of consciousness. Then on the network are points of light representing where lines of consciousness connect.
